COMPLETE UPGRADE OF 54-BOBBIN RIGID STRANDER

This is a 20 year-old machine consisting of DC motors with Siemens Simoreg DC drives and Siemens S5 PLC with analog boards for synchronization. For a complete upgrade, we replaced all the DC motors with Siemens Simotics 1PH8 AC servomotors and SSD-Parker 690 AC inverters and run it under common DC bus link for regeneration resulting to power saving and higher power factor. Likewise, we replaced the Siemens S5 PLC with S7-300 including Siemens TP1200 touch screen HMI display.  To lower the cost, we kept the same cabinet, contactors, relays, fuses, circuit breakers and some wrings.

With Profibus network, we were able to eliminate the analog boards and synchronization is done in both the PLC program and the SSD-Parker 690 configurations. With all digital synchronization, the actual lay lengths are more  accurate and stable from start to stopping.
